Taal volcano (Luzon, Philippines): fumarolic activity

PHIVOLCS reported that 20 m high gas-steam plume occurred today at the vents of the Main Crater and extending to the south-southwest of the volcano.

This is caused due to ongoing fumarolic activity from the vents.
The seismic station records 5 volcanic earthquakes.
Volcanic Alert Level 1 remains unchanged.

Over the past 24 hours, DOST-PHIVOLCS observed “moderate to voluminous emission of dirty-white to white steam-laden plumes rising 800 meters high before drifting southwest.” On February 1st 2020, sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions was measured at an average of 97 tonnes/day. read all
