Seismic activity remains above background. During 26-27 June, PHILVOLCS recorded 15 volcanic earthquakes.
Other parameters (water temperature and level, pH, deformation) have shown no significant variation during the latest surveys in June. The edifice overall remains slightly inflated when compared to 2011, and CO2 emissions, when last measured in March, were slightly higher then than during the end of November.
A pulse of more frequent earthquakes (7-9 per day) has been detected under the volcano in recent days. Other parameters show at present no significant changes. ... read all
Recently, the number of earthquakes has dropped to low (normal) levels of 0-3 on average. Still, some inflation in parts of the caldera and slightly elevated CO2 emissions are present and PHILVOLCS maintains yellow alert level. ... read all
Earthquakes have decreased to averages of 2-3 per day, but there is still slight inflation of the Volcano Island in the caldera, PHILVOLCS reports. read all
Earthquake activity has decreased over the past weeks to averages of about 3 weak events per day. PHILVOLCS continues to maintain alert level 1 (unrest). ... read all
Earthquake numbers continue to be elevated. During the past 24 hours, PHILVOLCS detected 14 quakes. Other parameters monitored at the volcano show no alarming signs. ... read all

Glossary of geologic terms
: A growing list of often illustrated explanations and definitions of geological terms and keywords, with focus on volcanology and seismology.
Dallol hot springs
: One of the most bizarre landscapes on earth: Dallol is a vast and very active hydrothermal field creating a colorful array of hot springs, small geysers, salt towers, colorful lakes and ponds in the middle of the deepest part of the Danakil desert and the Karum salt lake.
Kuril Islands expedition
: The Kuril islands form one of the most active volcanic chains in the world, but are very difficult to access. From time to time, we organize expeditions to some of these remote and still unspoiled islands. Adventure guaranteed!
