At about 08:45 PM local time this evening, the activity escalated with earthquakes occurring as often as 2 or 3 each minute. Initial locations of these earthquakes place them at shallow depths beneath the summit of the volcano, and the largest of these earthquakes have magnitudes between M 2 and M 3.
In response to this increase in seismicity, the AVO observatory raised the Aviation Color Code to Yellow.
