Tangkubanparahu volcano (Central Java, Indonesia): phreatic explosions

Sunday Oct 06, 2013 20:55 PM | BY: T

Phreatic eruptions occurred from the crater on Saturday and Sunday morning (at 06.21 and 03:37 WIB, respectively). The eruptions lasted about 10 minutes and produced small ash plumes. Volcanologists measured strong tremor accompanying the eruptions.
Access to the crater (a popular tourist spot in the vicinity of the regional capital Bandung) was closed within a radius of 1.5 km.
