No more eruptions have occurred since the series of 11 phreatic explosions between Saturday and Tuesday last week (5-8 Oct), but VSI continues to detect volcanic tremor.
This suggests ongoing internal movements of pressurized fluids that could lead to new explosions any time. An exclusion zone of 1.5 radius around the crater is maintained.

Phreatic eruptions occurred from the crater on Saturday and Sunday morning (at 06.21 and 03:37 WIB, respectively). The eruptions lasted about 10 minutes and produced small ash plumes. Volcanologists measured strong tremor accompanying the eruptions. ...

Eruptive activity has started in the form of intermittent ash explosions from the crater since 4 March. So far, the explosions were small and phreatic in origin (no fresh magma involved, caused by overheated groundwater), according to Surono, head of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) in Bandung. ...
