Phreatic eruptions occurred from the crater on Saturday and Sunday morning (at 06.21 and 03:37 WIB, respectively). The eruptions lasted about 10 minutes and produced small ash plumes. Volcanologists measured strong tremor accompanying the eruptions. read all

The alert level was back to normal (1 out of 4) yesterday. VSI reports that the recent monitoring have shown a significant decrease in seismicity since 9 March and no significant variations in ground deformation. read all

Eruptive activity has started in the form of intermittent ash explosions from the crater since 4 March. So far, the explosions were small and phreatic in origin (no fresh magma involved, caused by overheated groundwater), according to Surono, head of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) in Bandung. ... read all
