Background
A small volcanic field in the Tin Zaouatene area of Iforas province in eastern Mali, near the border with Algeria and Niger, was assigned a Holocene age (Liegeois et al., 2005). The alkaline Tin Zaouatene volcanic field covers an area of about 50 sq km in the Adrar des Iforas massif of the Tuareg shield.---
