Tolbachik volcano: eruption updates & news
Tolbachik volcano (Kamchatka, Russia) activity update
Saturday Dec 29, 2012 11:05 AM | BY: T
The lava flows from the southern fissure continue to be alimented and KVERT reports that tremor is still strong (although much less than 1-2 weeks ago). The plume and visible glow from the eruption are smaller as well but still present.
Wednesday, Dec 26, 2012
The eruption intensity has begun to decrease over the past days, although tremor is still high and lava flows are still active. The thermal anomalies have started to become smaller, indicating less lava output than before. They also confirm the reported flash flood of lava to the east reported earlier. ...
Monday, Dec 24, 2012
Significant changes have occurred at the eruption of Tolbachik last night as our colleagues from Activolcans.fr informed. While the main cone has ceased explosive strombolian activity and only feeds a larger lava flow directed to the west, a second cone, built on the east side of Tolbachik Dol, offered a surprise. At about 1 am this night, the cone, which until then contained a strongly boiling lava lake, collapsed partially and and released its contents as a flood-like lava flow. By 7 am, the new flow had traveled 5 km to the east and is still alimented. ...
Friday, Dec 21, 2012
The eruption continues at full force. Here's the latest KVERT update: ...
Wednesday, Dec 19, 2012
KVERT reported that the amplitude of volcanic tremor was almost 3 times as strong as a week ago. Possibly, magmatic channels to the surface have narrowed with time while lava effusion rate is remaining stable.
Tuesday, Dec 18, 2012
The eruption Plosky Tolbachik continues with vigorous lava emission and strong tremor as during the beginning of the eruption. ...
