Tolbachik volcano (Kamchatka) activity update
Friday Sep 06, 2013 13:30 PM | BY: T
The eruption is probably ending. KVERT reported only weak seismicity and incandescence, accompanied by moderate steaming/degassing, and a small remaining thermal anomaly on satellite data.
Monday, Sep 02, 2013
Although believed to have more or less stopped a week ago, it seems that weak eruptive has continued and regained some strength again now. Weak tremor has reappeared and incandescence could be seen again at the active vent at Tolbachinsky Dol at night. Tourists could observe strombolian activity and effusion of lava into the tube system on 30 August.
Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013
The eruption seems to be coming to an end. Seismic activity dropped from still moderately high levels (2.4 mcm/s) to very low (0.12 mcm/s) on 24 Aug, and the effusion of lava has stopped. No incandescence was spotted in the area of the vent during the past days. The Aviation Color Code was lowered to yellow.
Tuesday, Aug 13, 2013
KVERT reports continuing lava effusion, but the slowly decreasing trend of tremor (2.1 mcm/s today) suggests that an end of the eruption is (slowly) approaching.
Thursday, Aug 08, 2013
Activity has remained stable during the past week. Lava continues to be erupted from the fissure vent on the south side of Tolbachik Dol, feeding two flow fields to the west and south.
Thursday, Jul 25, 2013
KVERT reports no changes in the ongoing mainly effusive eruption; tremor has remained stable (3.3 mcm/s). ...

Divergent plate boundaries in oceans
: Two ocean plates move apart from each other. Hot upwelling mantle material forms magmas that continuously produce new oceanic crust. An ocean widens.
Ethiopia and the Danakil
: Ethiopia is a very diverse and beautiful country. Thanks to our numerous expeditions to Erta Ale and Dallol
and beyond, we have an extensive collection of images showing the volcano's lava lake, the desert, the colorful hot springs of Dallol, the vast salt lakes, camel caravans and more.
