Turrialba volcano (Costa Rica): pause in activity, warning of new eruptions

Turrialba volcano todayThe volcano has remained calm for the past 36 hours, but OVSICORI-UNA warns that new explosions are likely in the near future.
The volcano continues to show elevated seismic activity. Only weak degassing has been occurring today from the western crater (which produced incandescent ejections and ash emissions on 13-14 Mar), but this could be likely due to a blocking of the conduit to be released by the next explosion.
