Activity has again increased a bit during the past days. Along with more frequent hybrid earthquakes indicating rising magma, the number of small to moderate ash emissions has increased again.
Seismic activity at Ubinas during the past weeks (IGP)
Ash fall has been reported in up to 80 km distance (e.g. from the district of Santa Lucia, a small town 80 km northeast of the volcano). Eye and respiratory problems were reported in several villages, and the ash falls were estimated to have caused the death of up to 20% of the Alpaca sheep in nearby farms.
