Using photos / licensing rights
Please note: as default, you may NOT use any photo from our website without prior permission (exceptions - read below). All photos in our archive and throughout this website are available as high-resolution digital files (digital photos or high-end scans) in various sizes of up to 120MB. If you are interested in acquiring licensing rights, please
contact us with details about the intended use, the file- (or photo-) names and required resolution/print size.
Free use (non-commercial):
You can use many photos - as are - from this website for free without the need to ask us in the following case:
1) The context is
non-commercial in nature (blogs, private websites and similar). Newspapers'or governmental websites do not fall into this category and should contact us prior to using images.
and
2) Photos were taken by Tom Pfeiffer or Ingrid Smet (for photos from other authors, you must contact us first in any case).
and
3) The
name of the author AND the website are clearly credited near (under or next to) the photo where you use it, in the following form:
"Photo: NAME_OF_AUTHOR /
www.volcanodiscovery.com", where you need to replace "NAME_OF_AUTHOR" with the name of the author (e.g. Tom Pfeiffer).
