Gaua volcano (Vanuatu): elevated unrest continues

The local observatory Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-hazards Department (VMGD) observed continuing emissions of steam, gas.
An abundant ash column, rising from the summit vent, was followed a loud explosion today heard by locals in Naveto village.
People are advised to avoid the area of the summit crater. The current volcanic hazards (etc. volcanic gases) remains in valid.
The Volcanic Alert Level stays at Level 2.
