Stromboli volcano eruptions 20 Jan 2019: videos
#1: Eruption of W vent:
A very strong strombolian explosion from Stromboli volcano on the evening of 20 Jan 2019 from the westernmost vents. Glowing bombs are flying far above the horizon, i.e. reach much more than 150 m height, probably close to 250-300 m for some.
#2: Smoke rings
The northern vent with a steep conical shape sometimes erupted "smoke rings" - steam ring vortexes created by a pulsating gas emission from its narrow and perfectly circular vent.
#3: NE vent with spattering and a moderate explosion
This is the vent which has been most active during the past weeks, building a broad cinder cone around itself. During night, strong glow and spattering can be seen well, interrupted every 5-10 minutes approximately by strombolian-type explosions.
#4: Compilation of eruptions observed during approximately 90 minutes
