Visual observation via a camera installed at Asodaihigashi (about 900 m east-northeast of the Asodai collapse pit) showed that the volume of fumes from the pit (located at the west of Ioto Island) was small, and that their heights ranged from 0 to 100 m. No fumes were observed at Idogahama to the northeast of the island.
Seismic activity remained at low levels. A volcanic tremor was observed at 20:22 JST on November 27th, which lasted for duration of no more than 1 m 10 s. No changes in volcanic earthquake conditions, infrasound and surface phenomena were observed during this event. Volcanic tremor was observed for the first time since July
23rd, 2012. According to deformation data obtained from observations conducted by the Geospatial Information Authority (GSI), ground deformation in the area has now been in an almost static state.

While we were on expedition in Indonesia, the eruption from Tolbachik volcano in Kamchatka dominated the news. It counts certainly as one of the most remarkable eruptions this year. At the moment, the eruption continues at decreased intensity. Seismic activity has dropped during the past days, but the lower of the eruptive vents continues to feed a lava flow that has reached more than 10 km length in the relatively flat area at the eastern foot of the volcano and spreads there. ...
