Santa Maria volcano (Guatemala): activity update
Santa Maria volcano's Santiaguito crater remains at elevated level of activity. Frequent ash explosions produce plumes reaching up to 3 km above the crater, and sometimes small pyroclasitic flows, decending the NE and NW flanks. Ash fall is frequent over the localities El Faro, Patzulín, La Florida and others.
Due to lack of participants, we decided to cancel the tour to North Sulawesi and postpone it to 2007. As an interesting alternative, we can offer a special trekking tour in Java and Bali from 5-20 August instead. There are two open spaces available. ... read all
