Villarrica volcano (Central Chile): moderate explosion yesterday

The activity of the volcano continues at moderate levels.
SERNAGEOMIN reported that the surveillance cameras observed moderate explosion at 15:22 local time yesterday. Plume of ash rose to an altitude of 11,000 ft (3,352 m) and drifted SE. Fresh ash deposits on the snow cover are visible generated by explosion.
Explosion was associated with long-period earthquake suggesting rise of magma.
