Villarrica volcano (Central Chile) activity update
Wednesday Mar 25, 2015 11:27 AM | BY: T
Incandescence from strombolian activity at Villarrica last evening
Weak intermittent strombolian activity at the summit crater and occasional small ash emissions continue.
In its latest report from yesterday, SERNAGEOMIN mentioned a decrease in tremor and observed emissions.
An exclusion zone of 5 km radius around the crater is in place as the activity can increase abruptly at any time.
Monday, Mar 23, 2015
Weak incandescence from mild strombolian activity in the summit crater of the volcano has become visible at night.
Sunday, Mar 22, 2015
The volcano is having phases of increasingly intense, continuous ash emissions, probably caused by deep-seated strombolian activity. No or little incandescence has been visible last night.
Friday, Mar 20, 2015
Activity has continued to slowly increase overall during the past days, and volcanic alert level was raised to orange by SERNAGEOMIN on 18 March. ...
Wednesday, Mar 18, 2015
Activity at the volcano is again increasing, which could again culminate in another paroxysm. Since 14 March, degassing and seismic activity have been observed to rise. Phases of mild strombolian activity appeared again on 16 March. ...
Wednesday, Mar 04, 2015
After the violent paroxysm during Mon-Tue, the volcano has calmed down again. No explosions could be seen on the webcam, only what might be a short-lived lava flow and/or strombolian activity during the night.
