Reykjanes (Reykjanes peninsula (SW Iceland)): (20 Mar) The Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) report that the inflation and associated uplift that occurred around Mt Thorbjorn volcano in January-February has started again. The deformation is occurring in the same location as before, but at a slower rate. The uplift started in January but paused temporarily at the end of February. The IMO suggest that since the beginning of March, the uplift is about 20 mm. The deformation is believed to be caused by continued magma accumulation at depth. The head of the National Hazard Monitoring Group at the IMO explains that these events doesn’t not guarantee that there will be an eruption any time soon.
Significant earthquake activity followed the deformation, with a magnitude 4.6 earthquake on March 12 occurring about 2 km east of the Blue Lagoon and was widely felt in the southwest of Iceland. Several aftershocks followed.

Klyuchevskoy (Kamchatka): (20 Mar) Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 23000 ft (7000 m) altitude or flight level 230 and is moving at 15 kts in E direction.
The full report is as follows: VA EMISSIONS CONTINUING OBS VA DTG:19/2320Z to 23000 ft (7000 m)

Aso (central Kyushu, Japan): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ACTIVITY CONT. VA AT 20200320/1800Z FL050 EXTD N OBS VA DTG:20/1750Z

Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): (20 Mar) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTED AT 20200320/0759Z FL080 EXTD SE OBS VA DTG:20/0750Z

Manam (Papua New Guinea): (20 Mar) Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 10000 ft (3000 m) altitude or flight level 100 and is moving at 10 kts in EAST direction.
The full report is as follows: VA OBS TO FL100 MOV EAST 10KT AT 20/0450Z OBS VA DTG:20/0528Z to 10000 ft (3000 m)

Ruapehu (North Island): (20 Mar) GNS Science Volcanologists have collected water samples from Crater Lake (Te Wai ā-moe) and the temperature of the lake is now 40°C. GeoNet believe the heating of the lake is the response to an input of hot gases and hydrothermal fluids in the wake of volcanic earthquakes beneath Mt Ruapehu in February. Prior to the earthquakes, the lake measured 24ºC.
In the last report, we noted that the GeoNet volcanologist reported “an upwelling of grey sediment and sulphur slicks on the lake surface.” Now the lake is well mixed and has changed to a uniform grey colour. The continued flow of gases and hydrothermal fluids through the lake show that the volcano’s vent underlying Crater Lake is open.

Mauna Loa (Big Island, Hawai'i): (19 Mar) The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded around 87 small-magnitude earthquakes beneath the volcano's upper elevations over the past week. Most of these events occurred at shallow depths of less than 5 kilometers (~3 miles) below ground level, with the strongest earthquake measuring magnitude 2.3 on the morning of March 19. This earthquake was located in the radial vents area west of the summit caldera within the volcano. There is continued summit inflation which HVO assert is due to “consistent with magma supply to the volcano's shallow storage system.” Both gas concentrations and fumarole temperatures remain stable.

Shishaldin (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): (20 Mar) The Alaskan Volcano Observatory (AVO) report that the eruptive activity continues at Shishaldin volcano. Minor explosive activity has subsided over the past 24 hours, but seismicity remains elevated with near-continuous tremor. A small steam plume from the summit was observed over the past 24 hours. For now, eruptive activity looks as if it is confined to the summit area, but activity could increase with little or no warning resulting in lava flows outside of the crater, lahars, and ash emissions.

Semisopochnoi (United States, Aleutian Islands): (20 Mar) AVO reports that activity continues at Semisopochnoi volcano. The seismicity levels remain elevated, but no significant activity was observed over the past 24 hours. No activity was observed in cloudy satellite imagery.

Great Sitkin (United States, Aleutian Islands): (20 Mar) AVO report that small local earthquakes continued over the past day beneath Great Sitkin volcano. No significant activity was observed in cloudy satellite and clear web camera images.

Popocatépetl (Central Mexico): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 20000 ft (6100 m) altitude or flight level 200 and is moving at 10 kts in N direction.
The full report is as follows: CONT VA EMS OBS to 20000 ft (6100 m)

Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington reported that explosive activity from the active crater with near-constant ash emissions reached 19,000 ft (5,800 m) altitude and drifted SW, S and SE.
The Alert Level remained at 3.

Sangay (Ecuador): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 20000 ft (6100 m) altitude or flight level 200 and is moving at 15 kts in E direction.
The full report is as follows: CONT VA EMS to 20000 ft (6100 m)

Reventador (Ecuador): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 15000 ft (4600 m) altitude or flight level 150 .
The full report is as follows: ONGOING VA EMS to 15000 ft (4600 m)

Sabancaya (Peru): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Buenos Aires warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 30000 ft (9100 m) altitude or flight level 300 and is moving at 15 kts in SW direction.
The full report is as follows: PUFF EMISSIONS to 30000 ft (9100 m)

Nevados de Chillán (Central Chile): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Buenos Aires warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 14000 ft (4300 m) altitude or flight level 140 .
The full report is as follows: PUFF EMISSION to 14000 ft (4300 m)
...20 Mar:
SERNAGEOMIN reported that the Volcanic Alert Level has been lowered to Yellow.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect a Pinto, Coihueco and San Fabiánarea area of about 3 km distance from the main crater on the SW flank and 5 km away on the ENE flank.

Antillanca (Central Chile and Argentina): SERNAGEOMIN reported on ˂b˃11 March˂/b˃ that volcanic Alert Level raised to Yellow due to increased seismic activity near Casablanca volcano.
The seismic station records volcano-tectonic earthquakes ˂b˃since August 2019˂/b˃ located about 20,670 ft (6,300 m) NE of the volcano.
