Fagradalsfjall (Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland): A new map measuring a thickness of the lava at Meradalir valley has been published.
The current lava flow field area is about 1.2 km2 with a maximum thickness of 20 meters and volume ranging between 0.7-10.7 m3.

The map is created via Pléiades, an emergency tasking platform for monitoring of volcanic eruptions.


Shiveluch (Kamchatka): (15 Aug) Activity at the volcano remains intense. The pulse of magma that has been feeding the active dome continues.
Frequent glowing avalanches from the glowing dome as well as ash emissions caused by explosions and the avalanches are frequent.
The attached picture from last week beautifully illustrates the growth of the viscous lava dome.

Semeru (East Java, Indonesia): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 14000 ft (4300 m) altitude or flight level 140 .

Kilauea (Hawai'i): (15 Aug) The effusive eruption at the volcano continues.
The lava flow from the western vent continues to supply to the Halemaʻumaʻu lava lake. The surface activity, outside the lava lake, occurs from breakouts along the margins of the crater on the northeast, east, south, and west sides.

From available HVO monitoring deformation data, the ground has been fluctuating (periods of uplift and subsidence) over the past week varying between values of 1 (inflation) to -2 (deflation) microradians, as seen in the attached graph.
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 1150 tonnes on 12 August.


Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 18500 ft (5600 m) altitude or flight level 185 and is moving at 10 kts in NW direction.

Near-constant vulcanian explosions continue to take place from the summit vent that reached 15,000 ft-17,000 ft (4,600 m-5,200 m) altitude and drifted west-southwest direction.

Emissions of incandescent from the crater can be partially seen in a satellite image from yesterday (14 August) as visibility was very limited due to dense clouds and ash emissions. The incandescent is likely associated with the descending lava flow over the northeastern flank, but due to poor visibility is difficult to judge if is still active or not.


Sabancaya (Peru): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Buenos Aires warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 24000 ft (7300 m) altitude or flight level 240 and is moving at 20 kts in E direction.
