Etna (Sicily, Italy): (18 Jan) The lava flow from the vent at the southern base of the SE crater is active again this morning, and a new lava flow has been advancing on the surface.
Webcam imagery indicates that this new surface flow started to advance from the vent during the early morning hours.

It is unclear whether it had completely ceased during a brief pause yesterday or whether it's activity had simply dropped significantly and now increased again, which is suggested by a bulletin of the volcano observatory mentioning that there was a lava flow in the summit area yesterday afternoon.

The explosive eruption at the volcano continues.
At 21:52 local time yesterday, a minor strombolian explosion took place from the summit crater with glowing ejecta thrown at an approximate height of a few dozen of meters. A white-to-grey ash plume reached approximately 6,000 ft (1,800 m) elevation and drifted southwest.

The local volcano observatory reported a seismic signal with a maximum amplitude of 2.6 mm and a duration of 33 seconds.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows and lahars could affect an area of about 2 km distance from the main crater.

Santiaguito (Guatemala): (18 Jan) The activity of the volcano continues at high levels.
A visible glow and near-constant emissions of gas and water vapor (so-called degassing) hint continued rise of fresh viscous magma accumulating into the Caliente lava dome. Pilled lava material makes the dome partially prone to collapse which in turn develop into rolling hot avalanches and incandescent dome blocks in W-SW direction along a steep ravine.

People are advised to avoid the sticky lava flow due to the strong heat which may cause burns and other serious injuries. The current hazards are also hot avalanches that can become mobilized into hot glowing currents (pyroclastic flows).

In addition, ash emissions were monitored at 12:28 PM local time yesterday rising about 80 meters above the crater.
The Volcanic Alert Level remains at Yellow with 500 meters exclusion zone around the main crater in place.
