Krakatau (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): (26 Jan) The explosive eruption at the volcano continues.
Two short-term lava fountaining episodes (so-called paroxysm) occurred from the cinder cone during the last night. The PVMBG surveillance cameras observed two intense glow events accompanied by emissions of incandescent, fluid lava at 1-hour time range intervals lasting 20 and 40 seconds, at 22:56 and 00:03 local time.

The Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC) reported that an eruption took place at 07:10 AM local time on 23 January. The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington detected an ash plume that rose to estimated 20,000 ft (6,100 m) altitude and drifted north direction.
