Seismic signal from Nevado del Ruiz today (OLL station, INGEOMINAS)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): (7 Oct) Sporadic weak explosions from the New SE crater have continued. Currently, there are no signs of increasing activity.

Klyuchevskoy (Kamchatka): (7 Oct) The eruption continues with spectacular lava flows on the flanks of the steep cone, strombolian activity and ash emissions from the summit vent. Some great photos have been submitted into our image pool. Here's a time-lapse video of today's activity:

Karymsky (Kamchatka): (7 Oct) Strombolian activity continues. Occasionally, such as yesterday, stronger explosions produce ash plumes detected on satellite data, reaching an estimated 6,000 ft (1.8 km) altitude.

Batu Tara (Sunda Islands, Indonesia): (7 Oct) Explosions have produced ash plumes reaching 7,000 ft (2.1 km) altitude over the past days again.

Tangkubanparahu (West Java): (7 Oct) Another phreatic explosion happened 7 Oct morning at 07:02 am WIB (local time).

Nevado del Ruiz (Colombia): (7 Oct) An earthquake swarm affected the volcano on 7 Oct, including a volcanic-tectonic quake of magnitude 2.7 at 3.2 km depth northeast of the Arenas crater. This could indicate that new magma has been rising into the shallow volcano's conduit, which might (or not) lead to new eruptive activity.

Cumbal (Colombia): (7 Oct) No significant changes occurred during the past months. Seismic activity remains above background. The latest significant event was a shallow (and felt) mag 2.1 quake at 14 km distance from the summit on 6 Oct.

Sotará (Colombia): (7 Oct) Seismic activity remains slightly elevated, with no significant changes over the past months, and INGEOMINAS keeps alert level yellow.

Tangkubanparahu (West Java): (6 Oct) Phreatic eruptions occurred from the crater on Saturday and Sunday morning (at 06.21 and 03:37 WIB, respectively). The eruptions lasted about 10 minutes and produced small ash plumes. Volcanologists measured strong tremor accompanying the eruptions. ... [more]
Ash emission from Etna's New SE crater this morning
Sunday, Oct 06, 2013
Etna (Sicily, Italy): The New SE crater has resumed weak, sporadic strombolian activity with small ash emissions. This goes along with an increase of the tremor signal today. The situation is certainly worth following! ... [more]
The Húsavík-Flatey (HFF) transform faut and location of earthquakes in the TFZ (IMO)
Saturday, Oct 05, 2013
Tjörnes Fracture Zone (North of Iceland): The earthquake swarm has decreased in intensity. At least some scientists believe that the cause has been a magmatic intrusion in Iceland's northern rift zone that activated the Húsavík-Flatey (HFF) transform fault at the southern limit of the TFZ where the earthquakes were concentrated. ... Explosion from Sakurajima this morning (MBC webcam, from East)
Friday, Oct 04, 2013
Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): A moderately large explosion occurred this morning at 12:03 local time, possibly generating a pyroclastic flow to the SW side of the Showa crater. An ash plume rose to 13,000 ft (4 km) altitude and drifted over the southern part of Kagoshima city, where ash fall occurred. ... [more]

El Hierro (Canary Islands, Spain): A small earthquake swarm under the center of the island, at about 12 km depth, occurred on 30 Sep. ... [more]
