A significant phase of explosive activity has occurred today, with sustained emissions to 45,000ft (~13.5km) from 3:00 to 9:00 UTC, and a continuing plume to 27,000ft (~8km). This event is almost certain to be a VEI 3- large, but not major.

The volcano continues to erupt, with intermittent small to sometimes larger vulcanian-type explosions. A particularly strong explosion occurred at the volcano this morning, at 23:23 local time during the night 7-8 Dec 2018.
Glowing lava bombs were ejected all over the summit cone and an ash plume rose probably 2-3 km above the crater. There are no reports of damages.
