Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): Following an increase in activity detected at the volcano, Italian Civil Protection raised the alert level from "green" to "yellow", pointing out that the volcano is in "an unstable situation" and should be monitored more closely.
No additional details were given in the report published 24 Dec.
Friends from the island confirmed to us that the volcano indeed has been more active than usual recently, although from available images of visitors and through webcams, we cannot see that explosions have been significantly larger than usual.
