Mauna Loa (Big Island, Hawai'i): (8 Jun) The Hawaiian volcano observatory (HVO) reported a slight increase in tiny earthquakes at shallow depths beneath the summit caldera as well as continuing trend of inflation. However, even though these are likely long-term precursors of the volcano preparing itself for its next eruption, current unrest does not merit an increase of the official alert level (green), and no eruption is expected in the near to medium-term future (weeks to months).

Colima (Western Mexico): The volcano's activity continues to gradually increase. During the last week of May, intermittent small explosions and steam-and-gas emissions were recorded, mainly from the NE side of the crater.
During overflights conducted during 23-24 May scientists from the Colima University observed that a new crack or cavity observed during the previous week had widened and now become a hole due to the combination of excavation due to explosions and probable subsidence.
