Klyuchevskoy (Kamchatka): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 22000 ft (6700 m) altitude or flight level 220 and is moving at 10 kts in NW direction.

Raikoke (Central Kuriles): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Anchorage warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 38000 ft (11600 m) altitude or flight level 380 and is moving at 25 kts in W direction.

Ulawun (New Britain, Papua New Guinea): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Wellington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 55000 ft (16800 m) altitude or flight level 550 .

While it is not only night over Papua New Guinea now, a vast area around the volcano is now likely to be shredded in darkness caused by ash from the eruption.
It is unclear whether the activity at the volcano still continues or has subsided or ended. However, the ash plume has been split in two major portions by winds blowing in different directions at different altitudes:

It is now clear that this is a major eruption, same as in 2000. VAAC reports have been revising the ash column height upwards and may continue to increase.
Satellite imagery shows a large circular cloud over the volcano, indicating that this is most likely a full-scale subplinian eruption, the world's first since Calbuco, Chile in 2015.

The volcano has suddenly had its largest eruption since the major eruption of 2000. Ash plumes have risen to 50,000ft, and the Aviation Colour Code has been raised to Red.

Fortunately, an eruption alert was sent out yesterday; evacuations have been taking place today.

More details to come as the situation develops.
