Kirishima (Kyushu): (7 Jan) The Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that volcano-tectonic earthquakes have increased since 2 January 2020 due to an eruption.
During the period 1-6 January was recorded 41 volcano-tectonic earthquakes below the Shinmoedake crater.

Aso (central Kyushu, Japan): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: POSS ACTIVITY CONT. VA CLD UNKNOWN AT 20200107/1800Z

Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) recorded at the Minamidake summit crater 3 eruptions and 1 explosion detected by the seismic network and 21 volcanic earthquakes and 9 tremors associated with the eruptions during the period 3-6 January 2020. Blocks were ejected as far as 1 km away from Showa crater.
An ash plume rose 5,577 ft (1,700 m) above the summit crater.

Dukono (Halmahera): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: CONTINUOUS VA TO FL070, LAST OBS EXT SW AT 06/0100Z

Kerinci (Sumatra): Explosive activity from the active crater with near-constant ash emissions that reached 15,000 ft (4,600 m) altitude and drifted into SE direction.

Shishaldin (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Anchorage warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 20000 ft (6100 m) altitude or flight level 200 and is moving at 30 kts in ENE direction.

Reventador (Ecuador): The activity at the volcano remains essentially unchanged at moderate levels. During 4-7 Jan 2020, we visited the volcano and observed strong vulcanian-type explosions at irregular intervals of 4-12 hours.
These eruptions produced loud cannon-shot noises with shock waves that could be heard in many kilometers distance. They ejected incandescent material to over 1 km height and to distances beyond the cone's feet, generating glowing avalanches. Ash plumes rose 1-2 km typically.

Sabancaya (Peru): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Buenos Aires warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 25000 ft (7600 m) altitude or flight level 250 and is moving at 15 kts in SE direction.
