Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTED AT 20200108/1855Z FL120 EXTD SE OBS VA DTG:08/1850Z

Shishaldin (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): (8 Jan) Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Anchorage warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 33000 ft (10100 m) altitude or flight level 330 and is moving at 60 kts in ESE direction.

AVO has raised the volcano to Aviation Color Code Red and Alert Level Warning, with intensified ash emissions, producing the highest ash plume of the current eruption which began last July. This is the first time Shishaldin has been on Red since its last significant eruption in 1999.

Pacaya (Guatemala): (8 Jan) INSIVUMEH recorded that strombolian activity continues from the Mackenney summit crater with ejecta thrown at an approximate height of 50 and 75 meters.
Two lava flows on the southern flank remain active, currently about 200 m and 300 m long that have increased in length since the last update.

Fuego (Guatemala): INSIVUMEH recorded strong strombolian-type explosions at regular intervals of 9 to 18 per hour that reached 14,760 ft - 15,740 ft (4,500 m - 4,800 m) altitude and drifted SW.
In addition, they recorded white plume which reached approx. 13,770 ft (4,200 m) altitude and drifted SW.
