Klyuchevskoy (Kamchatka): (16 Jan) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTION AT 20200116/0345Z FL230 EXTD SW REPORTED OBS VA DTG:16/0340Z

Aso (central Kyushu, Japan): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: POSS ACTIVITY CONT. VA CLD UNKNOWN AT 20200116/1800Z

Kuchinoerabu-jima (Ryukyu Islands): The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that surveillance cameras observed an eruption on 11 January at 15:05 local time. An eruption generated an ash plumes which reached approx. 8,717 ft (2,657 m) altitude and drifted E. Tepha was ejected as far as 300 m away from the crater. An ashfall was reported on Yakushima Island.

PHIVOLCS recorded a dark grey ash plumes at 06:17 and 06:21 local time that rose 1,640 ft-2,624 ft (500 m-800 m) above the summit crater and drifted W and SW.
The seismic station records 103 volcano-tectonic earthquakes of which 14 were with magnitude M 1.4 - M 4.0.
