The sulfur-dioxide flux began to increase on 28 April, reaching 2,700 tons on 1 May. According to news reports, flights to and from nearby Kalibo airport were suspended on 3 May due to reduced visibility.
Seismicity at Karymsky was above background levels during 22-29 April, with 300-650 shallow earthquakes occurring daily. Possible ash-and-gas explosions rose to a height of ~1 km above the volcano's crater (~8,300 a.s.l.). The evenings of 26 and 27 April, Strombolian activity was seen in two of the volcano's crater.
During 27 April to 3 May, lava entered the ocean at the Kamoamoa entry. Numerous surface lava flows were visible on the coastal flat. Seismicity remained above background levels at Kilauea's summit, consisting of both tremor and long-period earthquakes.
Based on information from RVO, the Darwin VAAC reported that ash emissions from Langila rose to ~2.1 km (~7,000 ft) a.s.l. on 3 May. A very small plume and a hot spot were visible on satellite imagery.
During 28 April to 3 May a thin plume from Manam was visible on satellite imagery. RVO reported that mild eruptive activity continued at the volcano. Manam remained at Stage 2 Alert Level.

Steam venting that began at the NW side of Soufrière Hills'crater on 15 April continued during 22-29 April. An average sulfur-dioxide flux of 304 metric tons per day was measured during 4 days in the report week. This value was below the long-term eruption average of 500 metric tons per day.

During 22-29 April, elevated levels of seismicity continued to be recorded at Spurr. Thermal imagery taken on 25 April revealed that temperatures in the summit melt-pit region were similar to those recorded in September 2004, with values as high as 40 degrees Celsius in scattered patches of exposed rock. The lake in the summit crater continued to be discolored, and there was a strong scent of sulfur in the area, indicating continued gas emission.

During 27 April to 3 May, growth of the new lava dome inside the crater of Mount St. Helens continued, accompanied by low rates of seismicity, low emissions of steam and volcanic gases, and minor production of ash. On the morning of 28 April there were reports of minor amounts of ashfall in the eastern part of the Portland metropolitan area.
