Incandescence observed at White Island webcam

There have been a few observations of incandescence on the White Island crater floor webcam (thanks to those on VolcanoCafe for updates).

The first observation was seen on 22 December, a few more comments reveal that incandescence was seen on 23 December, although more strongly.

The Alert Level is kept at 2.

A close up view of the dome. The dome is made of thick, relatively cool and congealed lava and has prominent spines. The dome is about 20 – 30 metres across. In the foregrouond is a small, cold lake. (image: GNS)
