Within the past few days, the lava lake at Kilauea volcano on Hawai'i within Halema‘uma‘u crater has risen to a record levels. 1 year ago the lake was 70m/230ft deep, 1 month ago it was 60m/200ft deep, 1 week ago it was 50m/165ft deep, and today it sits only 33m/110ft deep! ...more [read all]

A new submarine eruption was observed from Fukutoku-Okanoba volcano in the Volcano Islands of Japan on Tuesday morning, October 16th. Japanese Coast Guard observed a column of white smoke rising from the sea about 3 miles from Minami-Iwoto island. According to a report "the volcano spewed ash and smoke about 100 meters into the air, and the surrounding sea area changed to a yellowish-green color while other parts became a cloudy gray". ...more [read all]

Activity of Popocatépetl volcano in Mexico is on a slightly increasing trend with 48 exhalations of low to medium intensity during 14-15 Oct, some of which were accompanied by small emissions of ash.
