GPS-measured deformation of HEKR station (Univ. Iceland), north of the volcano
Hekla (Iceland): The famous Icelandic volcano is showing further signs that indicate an eruption could occur in a near future. Significant rapid inflation, concentrated in the northern part of the volcano, has been detected since early April and likely represents accumulation of rising magma underneath. ...more [read all]

New lava overflow on the Sciara del Fuoco (INGV thermal webcam)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): Spattering and lava effusion have increased from the NE hornito, feeding a new relatively large sustained lava flow on the Sciara del Fuoco. ...more [read all]

Lava fountains from the New SE crater (Etna Trekking webcam)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): (27 Apr) The 13th New SE crater paroxysm is occurring this evening. Tall lava fountains rise from the central vent of the cone, and a lava flow has rapidly descended the slope into Valle del Bove. A dense tephra plume is rising several kilometers above the volcano and drifting to the NE where ash- and lapilli fall is occurring. ...more [read all]

Thermal webcam image of the crater area of Stromboli (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): An increase in activity occurred yesterday. Lava started to effuse from one or two vents at the base of and on the outer flank below the NE hornito. It is currently extending on the upper part of the Sciara and produces strong rockfalls that reach the sea. ...more [read all]

Ash emission from Etna's New SE crater (Etna Trekking webcam)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Relatively intense strombolian activity and ash emissions continue at the New SE crater. INGV tremor data seems currently not to be available to see whether this is rising or not, and might be the beginning of another paroxysm. A steam and ash plume is rising about 1 km above the volcano. ...more [read all]

Thermal webcam image of the crater area of Stromboli (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): Activity remains elevated, with magma filling the NE crater to the rim and sometimes relatively strong explosions. No significant new overflows have occurred since the last update. ...more [read all]

Thermal webcam image of the crater area of Stromboli (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): The small lava flow issuing from the breached NE crater continues, but has not progressed much. Frequent glowing rockfalls descend the Sciara del Fuoco. ...more [read all]

Webcam image of the crater area of Stromboli (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): Magma stands high inside the conduits. A small overflow is occurring from the NE crater. The lava flow reaches about 100 meters length at the moment. Tremor and explosion signals are moderate to elevated. ...more [read all]

Radiostudio7 webcam image from Schiena dell'Asino showing a pyrocalstic flow
Etna (Sicily, Italy): (20 Apr) At the end of the eruption, partial collapse of the New SE crater's walls triggered pyroclastic flows that descended towards and partly into Valle del Bove. Here are two webcam images (thanks to Geoforum.fr): ...more [read all]
