Webcam image of Stromboli (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): (27 Feb) A new lava flow has started to descend the Sciara del Fuoco. Judging from webcam images, it has probably reached about 500 m elevation, but seems to be relatively well alimented. Read more... read all

Current seismic signal from Stromboli (ST8 station, INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): The seismic signal signal has increased and probably shows both increased tremor and continuous rockfalls on the Sciara del Fuoco. Read more... read all

MODIS hot spots (summarized during the past 2 days) at Tolbachik (MODIS, Univ. Hawai'i)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): For now, Etna has stayed quiet. It seems that - if the series continues - the intervals between paroxysms are getting again longer. Read more... read all

Tall lava fountains are visible from the webcam images:
Etna (Sicily, Italy): (23 Feb) The 5th paroxysm of the New SE crater is occurring. Tall lava fountains are erupting from the fissure vent of the New SE crater. This time, the eruption is much bigger than the previous ones. Judging from webcam images, lava fountains might be reaching one km in height. Read more... read all

View towards the New SE crater from Belvedere
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Another paroxysm is probably in the making. A lava flow is active from a fissure SE of the New SE crater's base, and the tremor signal has begun to rise. Read more... read all

Glow from what is probably a small effusive fissure SE of the base of the cone (right in the picture)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): It seems that a small effusive fissure vent has been active a few 100 m SE of the base of the New SE crater. No further paroxysm has (yet) occurred. Read more... read all

The characteristic tall tremor peak of Etna's tremor signal
Etna (Sicily, Italy): A 4th paroxysm from the New SE crater has occurred in rapid succession to the previous eruptions during the past 2 days. It will be interesting to see how long Etna will keep up this busy pace. Read more... read all
Wed, 20 Feb 2013, 16:54
Etna during the 3rd New SE crater paroxysm
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Etna had no less than 3 paroxysms (particularly violent brief eruptive episodes) with lava fountains, lava flows and tall ash plumes from the New SE crater within the past 20 hours (so far). Read more... read all

Explosion from Stromboli caught on the thermal webcam image (INGV)
Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): Activity remains characterized by the magma column standing very high inside the craters. Small lava overflows and strong explosions can be seen on the webcams. Read more... read all
