Gaulim-Rabaul / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : We were sleeping in our dormitaries when it hit.. our bunk beds we're shaking and the lights went out.. water from tanks spewed out.. we experienced dizziness and we're unable to walk properly

Kokopo / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : My dwelling is on 1 metre high posts. At 12.01pm the building I live in shook violently for several minutes. Glasses, food items etc all fell off shelves or smashed on the floor. Furniture moved across the wooden floors. Anything leaning against the wall crashed to the floor. Grabbed my computer monitor before it fell off my desk. Power went on and off from our supplier PNG Power. Quite strong after shocks for the next hour. Strongest I have ever experienced.

Port Moresby / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : Felt as though a truck was continuously driving by the area, producing weak vibrations. Went on for almost a minute.

Vunamurmur village, Takalai. / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Was asleep when I felt the sudden movements. I have three children. Grabbed my little girl and took her outside, told her to stand outside while I went in to wake my two boys. We outside for sometime. There was still movements. Thought the house would fall on us. Shelf fall, power went off and we kept ourselves outside for two hours

rabaul town / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : total blackout, still continuos agfter shocks up till now as i am textng objects fallen from walls roof shaing all our children awoke very shaken up from it i wont be going back to sleep!

RABAUL, ENBP (42.4 km W of epicenter) [Map] / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : It was a shocking experience. It was 11:00 pm when the earthquake shook when everyone were asleep. I woke my children up and we rushed to the door. Stuff in the house dropped and broke. You cannot walk far as our eyes got desey. The earthquake came back every 5-10 minutes intervals. We are expecting Mt Tavurvur to erupt or tsunami.

Rabaul / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : Was in the house with my family. My wife and two daughters. My daughters 4 and 2 years were fast asleep. My wife was playing game in her phone and I was watching movies. Suddenly the House was shaken and really frightening. I got hold of my big girl and my wife held another, we got out of the house cos we felt the house could be down in any moment.

I literally saw the posts of my house sway. I ran out from under the house ASAP cause it seemed pretty frightening. Dogs and people were awaken and shouting.
