During the past week the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded 65 small-magnitude earthquakes on the volcano's summit and upper-elevation flanks. Most of these earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of less than 8 km (~5 miles) below ground level. The largest earthquake was with magnitude M 3.2 event that occurred below the volcano's Southwest Rift Zone on 2 June. ... [details]

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded 92 small-magnitude earthquakes on Mauna Loa’s summit and upper-elevations. Most of these earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of less than 8 kilometers (~5 miles) below sea level. Slow summit inflation continues which HVO claim is “consistent with magma supply to the volcano's shallow storage system.” Gas concentrations and fumarole temperatures remain stable. [details]
