A thermal anomaly was visible until 19 May, perhaps also until 22 May, but has not been detected since then. This might be due to cloud cover or a suggestion that activity has ceased.

SVERT reported that a thermal anomaly and weak steam-and-gas emissions from Snow, a volcano of Chirpoi, were detected in satellite images during 14-15 February; cloud cover prevented observations of the volcano on other days during 11-18 February.

A thermal hot spot continues to be visible at the summit, indicating some sort of activity (perhaps slow extrusion of lava dome, strombolian activity) goes on there.

SVERT reported that a thermal anomaly was detected over Snow, a volcano of Chirpoi, during 24-25, 28, and 30 December; cloud cover prevented observations of the volcano on other days during 24-31 December.

A thermal hot spot continues to be visible at the summit. A dense steam plume rising from the Snow peak of Chirpoi is sometimes visible on satellite images when the volcano is not obscured by clouds.

Thermal anomalies continue to be detected almost daily at the Snow cone, Chirpoi volcano. No ash plumes have been detected which means the activity produces little to no ash.

The SVERT raised the Alert Level for Chirpoi to YELLOW today based on the steam plumes detected in satellite imagery and thermal anomalies in the area.

A hot spot is visible on recent MODIS satellite images at the volcano and a dense steam plume drifting SE can be seen on a Aqua satellite image from 16 Nov 2012. Although KVERT lists the volcano as green, it is likely that some activity is occurring at the volcano.
