The volcano observatory raised the alert status of the volcano to 2 ("Waspada" on the Indonesian 1-4 scale), as an increase of volcanic earthquakes and fumarolic activity had been observed during the past week. ...more

On 25 January CVGHM lowered the Alert Level for Lewotolo from 3 to 2 (on a scale of 1-4) based on decreased seismicity and visual observations during 5-15 January. During 5-15 January fumarolic plumes rose 200-500 m above the summit and incandescence was observed. ...more

The remote Lewotolo stratovolcano on Lomblen island in Indonesia is getting more and more active, with reports of "black columns of smoke" coming out from its crater, which probably translates to first ash eruptions happening. ...more

The remote Lewotolo volcano in the Flores Sea was placed on alert on 2 January, after an increase in seismic activity and incandescence was observed on 2 January.
