Hormuz island (also known as Organa, or spelled Ormus) in the Strait of Ormus, separating the Persian Gulf from the Indian Ocean is named after the important port town of Hormuz (Ormus) on Iran's mainland 60 km away.
Several catalogs mention that a possible submarine volcano is found in this area, but its existence is not certain.

Introduction
NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) and other catalogs list the island group as the location of a possible submarine volcano. However, the reference database of Smithsonian's Global Volcanisn Program (GVP) do not contain information. Whether a submarine volcano in this area exists or not remains questionable.The island itself has an area of 42 km2 (16 sq mi) and formed geologically by a salt diapir (ancient salt deposits, which are plastically deformable, have been squeezed up by the pressure of overlaying sediments).
Hormuz island has been famous since antiquity for its rich reddish ocre deposits.
