Etna volcano (Sicily, Italy) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 24 May-30 May 2023 (New Activity / Unrest)

INGV reported that during 23-24 May activity at Etna was characterized by weak intra-crater explosive activity at the SE Crater and minor incandescence at Bocca Nuova Crater based on webcam images. Strong explosive eruptions were reported at Etna by INGV starting on 18 May after continuous degassing and moderate seismicity over the previous few days, with significant Strombolian activity and a paroxysmal event at SE Crater on 21 May.
